Schnazzleberry from Chimera is probably the most potent strain from his genetics. Schnazzleberry is a hybrid line from Breeder Steve's famous "Shiskaberry" strain crossed with Chimera's Dom.

Having grown all of Chimera's strains I can safely say that Schnazzleberry is the best one in his entire collection and is worth growing again. In vegetative growth the sativa leaves grow almost upwards pointing to the sky. The whole plant has lots of vigor. The calyx to leaf ratio is very good and much better than his other strains. Trichomes are everywhere. Expect lots of crystals.

Although this strain is a medium/small yielder it certainly does pack one hell of a potency punch. The buds where almost all covered in trichomes. Watch out for the taste from the buds. They almost taste like manure. Some of my friends even said that it tasted like sh*t. I would agree. These buds pooong!

WARNING: This strain is not for novice users. Even hardend smokers will have trouble finishing a joint. The effects are quite heady and paranoia inducing. It is very profound! Extremely potent!

This is the first of Chimeras strains I have grown, and it won't be the last. 5 of 5 seeds sprouted, 3 were females-2 males.

My pheno was somewhat Indica dominant and short. Very vigorous growth in veg; not much stretch in flowering.

Trichomes are very hearty on this plant, and the smell is devastating!
You must have a carbon filter with this strain.

Looks are awesome, some color variation in one of my females, can stare at them for hours. As said above, the trichome production is unstoppable in this strain.

The taste is somewhat sweet, but leaves a spicy flavor in your mouth.

This smoke is rather potent, and knocked me on my ass every time!
The lung expansion is rather, well expanding, like a White strain.

A plus to Chimera, a definite keeper!

Chimera's Schnazzleberry:

Germination:
I soaked my seeds for 12 hours then placed them between wet paper towels. 12 of 12 germinated and all sprouted.

Vegetation:
***about 30 days or until 1ft tall
This strain was really simply to grow. It loved my nutes, loved to drink and I never had any problems other than spider mites. The plants grow hardy stems within the first few weeks of vegging with proper ventilation. From seed to plant these guys/girls can really grow! Branching was uniform and big Sativa leaves dominated. However slight Indica traits can be noticed in this strain. I'd say this strain held up pretty well against mites too. The plants all grew out pretty much the same, average height but more tall than bushy.

Flowering:
***45 days for all to reach maturity
I was able to determine sex with clear and visible signs such as pistils and seed sacks within 4-6 days. I got 5 females and 7 males. Flowers were only noticeable after 12 days. I'd say the plants really take off after the first week or two of being put into 12/12. The flowers start to have an apparent frosting of trichomes after about 3 weeks into flowering. From there beautiful resinous buds fatten up each day. My plants leaves started to curl inwards (giving a claw effect) with the introduction of BigBud. It didn't really affect the plant more than that...

The Smell:
The smell gets unbelievably strong, especially in the last week or two of flowering. Serious odor control is required if smell is of concern. It smells sort of skunky.. yet fresh or minty too... I find the smell is vary hard to describe and after curing for a week now I find all the jar smell a little differently. Either way, they stink, stink, stink...

The Smoke:
These plants produce some pretty potent buds. I wouldn't rate it as the most potent buds around (I've smoked stronger stuff), but it's definitely not your average smoke. I described the buzz as a well balanced buzz since you can get a lot done if you only take a few pulls off a joint. If you smoke the whole thing expect to sit down for a while. If you smoke more than 3 joints, you are "lights out" so to speak... I found the buzz to be more of a head buzz that's quite heavy. Less of a body buzz yet it can literally wipe you out if you smoke too much. It's also good smoke to call it a night and leaves you feeling refreshed in the morning. I found it hard to watch/follow a movie after smoking a whole joint...

The yield:
I had 3 phenos that had the classic "Christmas tree" effect. Medium sized colas with heavy budding starting from the bass of the colas to the top. Then I had one pheno with huge colas. It had 4 main colas with less bottom budding. Since one plant was rootbound but now recovering... Total yield off of 4 plants was 113 grams. I think I could get more off it if ever I have another go at it...

I had a blast growing this cool strain and would recommend it to anyone.

Notes:
-Strain is very easy to clone
-Very good smoke for $$$ spent (Great value)

CHIMERA - SCHNAZZLEBERRY

Germination:

I used the paper towel method for this, 8 of 8 germinated within 48hrs.

Soil Mix: Pro Mix Soil - Perlite - Worm Castings - Blood Meal

Water when needed, used Black Crystal for veggie stage, and used Scotts Bloom for flowering stage.

Vegetation:

5-6 weeks in veggie stage, very nice looking, and smells pretty strong. At this point I was able to determine the sex of the plants. There was 4-Females 2-Males 1-Hermmie 1-Dead. At about 4 weeks old, I didn?t chop any, I just pinched them at the top. They got about 18" tall, before going into flowering stage.

Flowering:

So after I determined all the sex, about 6 weeks in veggie stage, I started the 12/12 cycle. I put the males and hermmie into a different closest, under 12/12 as well.

FEMALES: After about 2-3 weeks into flowering, they really started to show a lot of pre-flowers and lots of white pistils. After about 4 weeks you can see the buds forming at the top, with a lot of WHITE PISTILS, and white CRYSTALS, smells really bad as well, kinda like Skunk. I had them in flowering for 55 days, before I chopped them. I noticed that the lower nodes of the plant weren?t as fat as the top half. So I chopped them in half, and let the lights on the bottom half for about another 3-4 weeks, before I harvest it.

MALES/HERMMIE: Had them in another closet, they started to grow pods in the 2-3 week. After about the 4th week, you can see that the males had started to pollinate. I collected all the pollen from them, and just stored it away for my next grow to breed it with another strain.

Harvest:

I put them in 48hrs of DARKNESS even before chopping them in HALF. I used the paper bag method for this harvest. When I chopped the ladies in half, I cut all the big fan leafs and then I put them up-side down for another 48 hrs or so. Then I put them in paper bags for about 3-4 days, opening the bags everyday, also moved them around. I then put them in the freezers for another 3-4 days, again opening the bad each day, moving the buds around.

Yield:

I got about 4 o's outta 4 females. I think by me chopping them in half so the lower levels would fatten up. If I didn?t do that method, I think I would have only got about 2 o's, or just a little more.

The smoke:

Smokes really well, and gives you a punch if you smoke too much of it. I would grow this strain again, but with a lot more lights.

Out Come:

I like and would grow this strain again, strong smell in veggie stage, lots of white crystal's and pixel in flowering stage. Nice looking plant over all, and a pretty good high smoking it. I would rate it 8/10 overall from what I have smoke from b4.

Grows good, smokes good, I would grow it again.

Where to begin... I mashed from her right now.

Well lets see, 4/5 germ I believe, 1 just kind of refused to grow, though I gave it a chance, just died after 5 days or so. The other three grew quite well but always seemed to be really touchy with any PH fluctuation, where it didn't affect any of the other strains going at the time. Doesn't like much nutes it seems either, but still a joy to grow. Very stinky, even in veg... more on that later.

I know that I vegged them for a least 65 days under 80w of fluoro lighting, but not sure exactly on veg time.

When the lights where flipped they showed sex within a week 2 females, and 1 male that was used to seed a female Schnazzleberry and C99 branch. I noticed that they liked more nutes in flower than veg, so I gave them full strength and they loved it, but still got a little tweaked every now and then due to ph fluctuation. Buds for rather quickly, and so does the smell. There was minimal stretch, and node spacing was quite short, only 1 pheno between the two females, they differed only mildly in terms of strength of smell. Seems to me like she would do good in a SOG situation, but I grow 8-10 cola style. Flowered under 1000w hortilux eye.

Around week 4 the smell really kicks in, really, really kicks in! I almost cut them down a couple of times out of paranoia due to my living situation, having once detected smell outside of my residence, so top notch odor control is a must! The smell of the plants during flowering is incredible though, very unique and hard to describe, fruity but with a stench that overpowers, kind of musky I guess.

Well, I harvested them around day 50 when most of the trichs where milky with a few amber here and there. I had a problem when drying them though and they where dry in 5 days, and put into jars.

Yeild: Was above average, though I'm sure that I can improve on that in future runs, maybe not so many tops next time.

Smell: After 2 weeks in the jars, a fruity smell is more pronounced, but the main thing that I smell is a musky almost sweaty armpit like smell, but its good, I know that sounds sick... but it is what it is... great smell! LOL.

Taste: A bit harsh because of the drying problems and it hasn't been properly cured, but very good all the same. Slightly fruity, but mainly a skunky kind of spicy taste I suppose.

Edit: 8/19/04, the taste has improved greatly, less harshness and a bunch of fruitiness have come through. My grow partner is now so pissed that he has none left, but I told him to keep her, oh well.

High: Woah, here is where this baby really shines! Mostly in the head, but with a good deal of body numbing that I've never felt with MJ before. Comes on fairly fast, gives a good shot of giggles, and very hard to think coherently. It makes you stupid, in a smart kind of way, LOL! Very potent! Lasts for a good 2-3 hours, pleasant come down.

Edit: 8/19/04, the potency has also increased a bit with the cure, very hard hitting!!

Overall fantastic strain, has a super strong smell that turns heads, and everybody loves to smoke it. I will just be keeping my mom in veg until I move, just too stinky for my current situation.

Schnazzleberry ranks in the top three of my favorites to grow, and in the top 2 of favorites to smoke.
I do not recall the exact female ratio though I don't ever remember having a disappointment with the results.
While I have 2 Schnazzleberry ladies in flower now, I will account the grow of my first two.

Vegging: I generally veg between 5-8 weeks depending on space as a perpetual schedule is the main goal. These were vegged around 7 weeks then planted together into a 5 gallon bucket with Expert Mix Soil (yellow bag) from WM. I don't suggest planting 2 per pot, but I confess to a nOObs mistake. While I'm pleased with the results, each precious Schnazzle should have her own beauty and breathing room.

Flowering:: These girls flowered exactly 9 weeks and the trichomes were a screaming amber and slightly cloudy. The frost was unlike any I've seen. In addition, so was the odor. No complaints from this grower's perspective, but measures should be taken to avoid complaints/notices/drooling of others.
Nutritionally, they were easy to please.
Yield: Average. It was more about quality (ideal for scrog/sog).
Trimming: A breeze.

Smoke: For me, it's right on. The taste is gently skunky (around here, that is mouth watering) and the smoke is full on to the lungs.
Prepare to cough. Maybe sit and hit.
A small test was taken at harvest and then again about 3 weeks later. The longer the better (no surprise). The buds were tight, picturesque, and dried rather quickly for curing in jars.
Two jars remain for next summer. Unless, the 2 new girls replace them in their pardon of time.

High: Absolute and highly desirable/calming and I am happy to report it is the closest strain I've found to helping bouts of insomnia. When I intentionally stay focused on Schnazz, I find myself creative and artistic.

Schnazzleberry starts out as one of those who make you think "she's a heartbreaker". Such a natural beauty and low maintenance that makes certain to please. I'd only be heartbroken if I knew there were not more where she came from.

I was blessed to get an extra $300 on a paycheck awile back, so i decided to spend some of it on some new genetics for the garden.
I wasnt disopointed after all was said and done with this strain.
A very easy strain to grow, very forgiveing with the scisors, and overwatering, youll notice i topped the hell out of these two ladies, i think each time was successful, never showed any stress or dead tips each time.
Not only a great strain to work with in small spaces, but a great strain all around with potecny and smell in the growroom.

Out of a pack of 10, i got 6 to come up, not sure what happened to the other 4, out of those 6 that came up 4 were females, 1 was eaten by the family pet after i forgot to close the room up, 1 was used for sed purposes, and the other 2 were used to grow nice spicey buds like the ones you see in the pictures.

I would reccomend this strain for the new commers to the game who are interesed in some good solid genetics, it was fairly potent and teastey but im sure the more expearenced growers wouldnt be all that satisfied with it, i had a blast seeing just how much i could top these 2 girls, I couldnt have asked for a better ride.

I started 4 seedlings and all sprouted. Took about 4 weeks to veg them till about 7-8 inches. Then i switched to flowering light cycle and waited for my females to show. I got 2 males and 2 females. (Funny enough i transplanted one male outdoors and it survied all summer without care) The two females were imeaditely tied down because i knew i had height restrictions. withen 2 weeks buds were forming. It took these gals a little longer because they werent very mature when i flowered them

I harvested on day 54 of flowering for one plant and day 60 for the second (ased on phenotypes) They took forever to dry, almost 2 weeks. (in a dry climate also) they were incredibly stick buds and after they had dried i put them in a jar for curing.

The first nugs (uncured) tastey good, sweet, but very planty and green. After about a month the taste has increased dramatically. The smell has sort of dissipated from the stink it emits during growth. But you can definitly tell its some good herb.

Yield was fairly low about three 1/4's a plant. However, niether plant ever exceeded 14 inches in hieght and i was usin CFL's not HID lighting.

The buds are great and i recomend this plant for anyone!
